Mapomancy Library License v1
This license covers art from Mapomancy's own library — the packs we publish ourselves, starting with Fantasy Battle. It does not cover packs you import yourself (see "Your own uploads" below) and it does not yet cover a Marketplace class of pack, because that doesn't exist yet — see "A note on the future Marketplace" below.
What you can do — on every plan, including free
- Use library art inside maps you make in Mapomancy, and export those maps.
- Use those exports commercially — in a stream, a Patreon, a published
adventure, a VTT module, anything — with no attribution required.
- Keep using exports you already made forever, including after your
subscription lapses. A license, once it's built into a map you exported, doesn't expire.
What you can't do
- Redistribute library art as art — as a standalone pack, a token sheet,
a folder of PNGs, anything that lets someone use the art outside a map you made in Mapomancy.
- Extract art from the app or from a `.mapomancy` bundle for any purpose
other than opening that bundle in Mapomancy.
- Use library art, or maps built from it, to train a machine-learning model.
- Claim library art as your own original art.
- Use library art in another map-editing tool. This license is tied to maps
made in Mapomancy — it's the one restriction that's ours to make, and we make it plainly rather than hide it in a longer list.
Your own uploads ("bring your own")
If you import your own art packs, that content is yours and stays yours — this license doesn't apply to it. You're responsible for having the right to use whatever you import. Imported packs are private to your account: they're never shared with other users, and they can never be exported back out of Mapomancy, by design. See the Terms of Service and Content Policy for what happens if you import something you shouldn't have.
A note on the future Marketplace
If Mapomancy ever hosts a creator marketplace, packs sold there will carry their own license terms set by their creators, under a separate class from this one. Nothing about that exists yet — this document covers the Library class only.
`.mapomancy` bundles
A `.mapomancy` project file that references official library art includes a copy of this license as `LICENSE.txt`. Sharing a `.mapomancy` file as a _map_ is fine — that's the whole point of the format. Mining it for the art inside is not, per "What you can't do" above.
