Terms of Service
Mapomancy is made by Grimoire Interactive LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company with its registered address at 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA, referred to here as "we", "us" or "Grimoire Interactive". These terms are between us and you, the person using Mapomancy. By creating an account or using the app without one (guest mode) you agree to them.
Who can use Mapomancy
One account per person. You must be 16, or the age of digital consent in your country if that's higher, to create an account. We don't currently verify age — if you're not old enough, please don't sign up.
Your maps are yours
You keep all rights in the maps, images and other content you create or upload. We only need a limited license from you: to store it, sync it across your devices, display it back to you, generate thumbnails, and render the exports you ask for. We don't use your maps for anything else, and we don't claim any ownership over them.
Commercial use is allowed on every plan, including free. Whatever you export from Mapomancy — a battle map for a stream, a Patreon adventure, a published module, a VTT scene — you can use commercially without asking us or paying an extra license fee. See the Library License for what that means specifically for art from Mapomancy's own library.
Acceptable use
Don't use Mapomancy to:
- upload, generate or distribute illegal content;
- scrape, reverse-engineer or bulk-extract the app or the asset library;
- resell, redistribute or repackage library art as art (see the [Library
License](/legal/library-license) for exactly what's allowed);
- infringe someone else's copyright or other rights. If you upload your own
or third-party art packs ("bring your own"), you're confirming you have the right to use those files — we take no responsibility for content you upload, and repeat infringement gets your account terminated (see our Content Policy).
Uploaded ("imported") packs are private to your account. They are never shared with other users and can never be exported back out of Mapomancy — that restriction exists specifically so this app can't become a vector for redistributing someone else's art.
Plans, storage and what happens if you go over
- Free: 3 maps, 2 GB of storage.
- Paid: $39/year or $4.99/month, unlimited maps, 25 GB of storage.
- Founders: a locked-in $29/year price for the early cohort, for as long
as the subscription stays active. Annual only — there is no founders monthly price, and it is not a lifetime purchase.
Storage caps are soft, not a cliff:
- At 80% of your storage limit you'll see a quiet warning. Nothing changes.
- At 100% (the soft cap) you can keep editing every map and pack you
already have, but you can't create new maps or sync new packs until you free up space or upgrade.
- At 125% (the hard cap) your maps open read-only — you can't make
new edits — but everything else keeps working.
Nothing ever stops rendering, and exporting always works, at every storage level, on every plan. We will never hold a map you made hostage behind a paywall or a full disk. If your free-tier map count goes over 3 because your subscription lapsed, the extra maps open read-only with the option to delete down to 3 or resubscribe — they are never deleted for you.
If we ever add higher tiers above Paid, they will add capacity — more storage, more seats, more rooms — never features. Every tool works on every plan; the only thing that ever runs out is space.
Price changes
If we change our prices, you keep the price you're already paying for as long as your subscription stays active without a gap. A price change only applies to new subscribers and to anyone who resubscribes after letting a previous subscription lapse.
Cancelling, refunds and what happens to your maps
You can cancel anytime from your account settings. See our Refund Policy for what you get back. Canceling doesn't delete anything — you fall back to the free plan's limits and your maps behave as described above.
If we ever suspend an account for breaking these terms, you get 30 days to export everything (as `.mapomancy` project files, which are yours to keep and reopen anywhere Mapomancy runs) before we consider the account closed.
Changes to these terms
If we materially change these terms, we'll email the address on your account at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Mapomancy after that counts as accepting the new terms; if you don't agree, you can export your maps and close your account before the change takes effect.
Disclaimers and liability
Mapomancy is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it running and your data safe (see our Privacy Policy and our backup practices), but we can't guarantee it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited, and nothing here removes the statutory rights EU and UK consumers are entitled to regardless of what these terms say.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. EU and UK consumers keep whatever mandatory local-law protections they're entitled to regardless of this clause.
